How are Commissions Calculated?

Commissions are given to the issuing Agent as compensation for the AWB sales. The assessed commission depends on the agreement between carriers and their clients.

The commission for a shipment is calculated by taking the IATA Commission % value of the applicable Base Amount.

Each country code in Cargospot has a corresponding IATA Commission % value as set by your own carrier. This value is set in the Countries screen, which is accessible in different screens where the Country Code link is available. The country-based IATA Commission % value is only used if there are no Forwarder-based IATA Commission % or any other special agreement regarding commission percentage that applies to the shipment.

It is also possible to have agreements with specific forwarders and have the IATA Commission % at the Forwarder-level. This agreed upon value is set in the Master Data > Forwarders screen for that particular Forwarder. The Forwarder-based IATA Commission % value takes priority over the country-based IATA Commission %.

By default, the Base Amount value is used when calculating for the commission is the Freight Charges or Gross Amount. This behavior can easily be overridden in Cargospot depending on the agreement between carriers and their clients.
