Interline Pricing

The carriers involved in the interline process share the total revenue and the division is guided by an industry-standard external revenue proration.

The proration type applicable to the particular AWB is found on the Prorate tab of the air waybill's Full AWB screen.

By default, the total revenue is prorated based on Mileage, where the miles from Origin to Destination and the miles covered by every carrier involved in each leg are used as a factor to split the revenue. The miles used is the standard miles as published by IATA which are loaded in the Cargospot database.

Whenever applicable, the default proration is overridden by the following external proration hierarchy depending on the conditions:
  • Minimum of 25USD for Host AWB

Applies if the total revenue is more than 25USD but after proration, the host carrier will receive an amount less than 25USD.  The share of the host carrier will be the minimum amount of 25USD, not the prorated amount based on mileage factor.

  • Equal Division Rule for Host AWB

Applies if the total revenue is less than 25USD. The total revenue will be divided equally among the carriers involved and the prorated amount based on mileage will be ignored.

  • Proviso/Requirement

Applies if at least one of the flight legs is a local flight (domestic), and the carrier is registered as one of the proviso carriers as published by IATA. The proviso/required amount will prevail over the calculated amount based on mileage.

  • 70% Rule

Applies if the calculated Proviso amount is less than 70% of the calculated amount based on mileage factor. The 70% of the carrier revenue share based on mileage proration or proviso will prevail.

  • Special Prorate Agreement (SPA)/Ad-hoc SPA

Applies if the carriers participating in the interline shipment have a signed agreement on how they will divide the earnings. This is the highest rule among the hierarchy as this will override all the external proration rules. The difference between SPA and Ad-hoc is that SPA is an agreement that is in effect for a period of time depending on the discretion of the carriers involved while the Ad-hoc agreement are agreements used for one-time cargo transactions.
